HIKING AT PLA DE L'ESTANY
Nature and hiking lovers will find more than twenty hiking trails of different length and difficulty, close to Ca l'Espardenyer. Here are the most outstanding things you can do without leaving Pla de l'Estany:
- Route to Sant Patllari: At Puig de Sant Patllari, at a height of 646 meters, you can reach it from the Romanesque chapel of Santa Maria de Porqueres, near the Estany de Banyoles, or from the Tower of Pujarnol, from where you shorten the ascent. Whatever you choose, shortly before reaching the summit, where there is a 12th-century chapel and a small refuge with a fireplace, stop at the viewpoint to enjoy the views of Pla de l'Estany.
- Salamina Soldier Routes: These are several itineraries that run through wooded areas of Cornellà del Terri, Palol de Revardit and Sant Miquel de Campmajor, and which appear in the book and the movie "Soldiers of Salamina" as real scenes of the end of the Civil War.
- Platja d’Espolla and Saltant de Martís Route: At Fontcoberta we find Plaja d’Espolla, an intermittent pond that, only when there is abundant rainfall, is filled with groundwater from the same lake system. 'Banyoles lake. With some luck, you can see Triops, a very small prehistoric crustacean that still lives in the waters of this pond. You can follow the path that goes around the pond or cross the entire Pla de Martís following the irrigation formed by the outgoing waters of the Platja d’Espolla to the Saltant de Martís, with a fall of about 80 meters. height.
- Route to the Sanctuary of Rocacorba (PR-C 120): Short Trail that leaves Banyoles and goes up to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Rocacorba. Perched on top of a boat-shaped rock, nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, you will enjoy spectacular views. This is the hardest and longest route of all.
